On September 2, 2026, China’s Cyberspace Administration released results from the second phase of its “Clean Up AI Application Chaos” campaign, according to IT Home. Authorities say they removed over 5.6 million pieces of illegal or harmful content, shut down around 49,000 accounts and took action against more than 2,400 sites and apps, while ordering major AI and social platforms to strengthen moderation and AI output controls.
